Soumak's journey from an engineer to a creative entrepreneur is a testament to his commitment to intentional living and mindful creation.
Soumak's transition from the structured realm of engineering to wedding photography and from there to the artistic world of design reflects his pursuit of authenticity and purpose. By embracing the tactile and the tangible, he has carved a niche that harmoniously blends form and function. His work with Jyamiti & Sea exemplifies a dedication to craftsmanship, sustainability and thoughtful design.
Jyamiti & Sea was started out of Soumak’s garage in Goa during covid times. What started with small home decor items like coasters and mugs gave way to largescale tabletops, countertops and eventually gorgeous flooring for architects and designers across the country.
Terrazzo for Soumak is a way to honour and revive his childhood memories of Kolkata homes and their distinct flooring. His experimentation with this beautiful material helps him create designs that become even more beautiful with time thanks to the nature of terrazzo.
Soumak and his team of artisans are all passionate people who believe in honing their craft and getting better at what they do everyday. And while this dedication makes them experts at what they do, Soumak believes work and play should go hand-in-hand.
He prioritises time with family, his wife and daughter. Morning runs and workouts are an important part of his daily routine. So is enjoying the slow life in Goa and taking a dip in the sea now and often. One of the most important reasons behind his move to Goa from Delhi was this- living a mindful, fulfilling life with his family.
